ABSTRACT
Peri (2018) states, that municipal solid waste management is a challenging issue. This problem needs to be addressed in order to achieve a sustainable urban policy. European directives and, subsequently, national standards set minimum standards for recycling and preparing for re-use of materials contained in municipal waste. Nevertheless, landfilling as a method of disposal continues is used to a considerable extent.
