The platform should survive the initial impact from dropped objects and meet the post-impact criteria as defined for vessel collision. Providing a singularly strong element to resist impact loads does not guarantee global impact resistance; the entire framework must be arranged to confine and control damage under the full range of plausible impact conditions.
