ABSTRACT
This section describes the challenge of a Muslim woman who relates domestic violence to her husband’s possession problem. She believes that her husband has been involuntarily taken over and controlled by alien spirits or para human forces that cause various diseases/ailments, including physical and mental health diseases, which we present here as satanic interference. Therefore, the chapter analyzes the role of traditional healing practices, such as al-ṭibb al-nabawi (prophetic medicine that refers to traditional religious medicine based on Prophet Muhammad’s practices) and folk medicine, which some Muslim women use to deal with the problem of possession and indirectly with domestic violence.
