ABSTRACT

Many law firm leaders understand the innovator's dilemma and worry about the timing and execution of reinvention. Among the three profiled law firm intrapreneurs, Josh Kubicki has given the most thought to intrapreneurship as an applied discipline. A successful subinnovation requires making the complex very simple, culturally compatible, and highly advantageous to the end user, ideally with a very fast return-on-investment. In 2013, as Eric continued to improve his technical skills, he decided it was time to find an outlet in the legaltech world. Jim's multiple perspectives in law and business was one of the reasons that John Crockett, chairman of Frost Brown Todd, recruited Jim to return to Louisville to run business development for the firm. The innovator's dilemma describes the difficulties experienced by incumbent businesses in adapting to new and potentially disruptive innovations. Jim believes that structured metrics and dialogue enables clients and law firms to smoothly transition into the world of data, process, and technology.
