ABSTRACT

This chapter examines climate change denial. We begin with a sketch of virtue epistemology, moving next to a description of what the ideal epistemic agent believes about climate change. This brings us to climate change denial, which we examine in the subsequent three sections. The first two deal with a familiar form of denial – here, following Harry Frankfurt, analyzed as climate change “bullshit” – the third with a less familiar form that can show up among otherwise progressive people.
