ABSTRACT

He's done it. Gilles has completed his training. He has written and defended his final dissertation—about a case of infertility of psychological origin. His trainers have supervised him during several "practicum" exercises—during which he has worked with other students, counselling them over some of their issues in everyday life. They have emphasized his strong points (a lot of intuition and an excellent sense of human contact, inducing a sense of trust) and his shortcomings (he has a tendency to want to try to explain everything too thoroughly, to justify each of his moves, and he also has a tendency to be overprotective); they have helped him find his own personal style—which he is going to try to develop deliberately. They have given him their go-ahead so he can take on his first clients, provided he is regularly supervised.
