ABSTRACT

The experience and the art of a psychotherapist—similar to those of a carpenter or plumber—consists in using the best possible "tool" at the best possible time, for the purpose of gaining in efficiency and ease, in accordance with his own personal preferences and style. Nevertheless, a great number of clients (and some psychotherapists as well) are quite reluctant when it comes to body movement— and even more so if touching is involved— because of our society's prevailing cultural norms. In some cases the psychotherapist may store these works "in the shelter" of his office— if he has sufficient available space— and take them out again at an appropriate time. In most types of psychotherapy, sexuality holds a major place, either explicitly or implicitly, and may arise from matrimonial issues mainly due to sexual difficulties, prolonged absence of a partner, excessive shyness, or endless break-ups, etc.
