ABSTRACT
In spite of this chapter investigating the psychoanalytic conceptualisation and treatment of an originally psychiatric concept, its discussion cannot avoid referring to a third discipline studying the human mind, one whose name also includes the element “psyche”. This discipline is psychology, thanks to my undergraduate studies in which I first came into contact with patients deemed schizophrenic and I was intrigued by their discourse and by their relation to their bodies and organs.
