ABSTRACT

Supervision of therapists is a process which is of considerable importance. Supervisors, used to supervising long-term therapies are required to change their supervisory attitudes when they supervise short-term therapy and will also benefit from practising short-term therapy with some patients, if possible. Supervision is a collaborative exercise in which the supervisor and the therapist work together to achieve certain expectations in her own work as a therapist. Facilitation of the therapist’s personal style is enhanced and enabled as the therapist/patient relationship grows and work progresses.
