ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author begins his examination of the evidence for two minds in those of us whose brain remains intact with two experiments. He argues that the results in both cases are best explained by involvement of the R-mind, initiating actions that the L-mind only becomes aware of subsequently people begin with an experiment from the 1970s. The author also argues that the better explanation for their results is R-conscious initiation of behaviour. It is essential to differentiate pre- or post-conscious processes that take place in a specific hemisphere, such as the left hemisphere controlling the right hand, from conscious processes of the two minds. Given that there was no basis for a rational selection of any individual pair of stockings by the L-mind, and that the subjects did not admit to a conscious random choice, we are led to the possibility that the R-mind made the selection.
