ABSTRACT

Torture is a detestable crime under any circumstances. But the need for action is particularly critical when it is committed against children. By focusing on procedures required of refugee young people during the process of immigration children should be given opportunity to be able to explore how best to respond to the difficulties they may be facing. The Convention on the Rights of the Child is the most widely and rapidly ratified human rights treaty in history. The international community should place the torture of children onto the international human rights agenda, and ensure that this deep rooted problem of children who are subjected to torture in many countries all over the world is steadily combatted. Children who are being subjected to torture and ill treatment at the hands of their own governments and armed opposition groups need protection.
