ABSTRACT

Psycho-analysis, whose origin and development the authors owe in the first place to the Viennese physician and psychologist, Sigmund Freud, has grown, in the course of time, from a therapeutic method into a science of psychology. Psycho-analysis thus proves that in the psychic realm, which was regarded as the arena for chance and arbitrary forces, the rule of causality holds undisputed sway. The authors explains the surveyed a vast new field of modern research. The wealth of new discoveries has been such that they could only touch on a few points in order to become more familiar with the findings of psycho-analysis, but even this broad outline shows the revolutionary changes brought about by psychoanalytical teachings in every sphere of psychic life. Psycho-analytical investigations of myths and fairy-tales have yielded a wealth of understanding of the phantasy creations of the unconscious of the people.
