ABSTRACT

The coach must adopt the role of an interested listener. In fact, observation of coaching practice suggests that the most effective conversations are those in which the coach spends the most time listening. As members of families, educational institutions, and society, most of us have developed the ability to listen to others. For the majority of people, this experience relates to day-to-day conversational listening. One of the starting points for a person to begin to make plans for sustainable changes in the future is a good understanding of his or her current situation. This means that a coach should have the skill to listen attentively while the coachee tries to make sense of what is happening in his or her professional or personal life. The quality of the listening by the coach contributes significantly to the creation of an environment that encourages new ideas and creative thinking.
