ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book presents some uncommon lines of clinical observation and thought that hopefully will shed new light on the work and thinking of the full range of helping professionals – whatever their background and persuasions. It focuses on the insights and techniques that characterize the empowered form of psychotherapy. Stated as simply as possible, the requisite is that the student, using his or her resources alone, develop the means of accessing his or her own deeply unconscious world of experience, needs, and wisdom and bring to the conscious light of day the contents and workings of the dark and powerful strata of the mind. Surprisingly, both the surface and the depths, the conscious system and the deep unconscious system, thereby are revealed in ways that have not been possible through other means.
