ABSTRACT

Many of the dreams in the matrix were about people in struggles, in precarious positions on unsteady ladders, in rooms with collapsing walls and in risky activities. The matrix is being tested to determine how much of the dreaming experience of its participants can be contained and what the subject of the matrix should be. Social dreaming is having an impact on the life of the parish. Participants agree with Gordon Lawrence that "social dreaming would never give them a direct answer to the issues that they were facing, but that the experience of searching for meanings would have direct consequences on the way that they thought about problems". Participants have insisted on continuing the social dreaming matrix. They talk about the sessions with other members of the congregation. They are eager to have more sessions despite scheduling difficulties and are considering inviting teenagers into the matrix.
