ABSTRACT

This chapter propose a solution to the problem posed by the infiltration of the fraternal into some couples' psychic dynamics, which seem to characterise the clinical scene. As the couple's sexuality "is cut by the [structuring] primal phantasies", it is often inhibited. In fact, as described in F. Bocquet, if the passionate link with the fraternal object can represent a sort of alleviation of the oedipal struggle, at the same time it may "mark the unconscious imagery" of the couple, penetrating the partner choice and disturbing its sexual relationships. The fraternal complex, the pre-oedipal triangle and the rivalries triangle aren't completely overcome with the passing of the Oedipus complex. The partner choice may be defined as one of the couple's unconscious organisers, based on a strongly organised and defensive unconscious collusion, within which it is necessary for the subject to assure himself of a protection against an unconscious tendency.
