ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of the book. The book focuses on a history of the events of intimacy, a chronicle of the erogenous events that occur in a woman's body. Her speaking body is beginning to give a glimpse of the light in the "dark continent", which is becoming illuminated without ceasing to cling to the secret, intransmittable, obscure aspects that constitute the yearning depths of every human subject. The book expresses a body that is sensitive and experiencing perpetual interactions between the affect and the representation, between the primary process with its various strata of unconsciousness and the organizations that impose the secondary process. It also expresses a body at the mercy of conflicts, of the snares of pleasure and the tricks of identification, of object-illusions in the service of the satisfaction of narcissistic and oedipal phantasies. The book introduces another area respecting feminine sensuality: that of fluidification and secretion.
