ABSTRACT

The number of impulsive, hyperactive children with attention problems has increased during recent years. The causes vary from child to child. In one child, they can stem primarily from neuropsychiatric deviations. In another, psychological deficiencies in child care can be the major cause of the problems. The author's experience, however, is that in many children a combination of both emotional and neuropsychiatric disturbances contribute to aggressively, hyperactivity, and lack of concentration. At present, children with several types of disabilities, including neuropsychiatric deficiencies, seldom receive psychotherapeutic treatment. As soon as they have received a diagnosis of ADHD, the only thing that happens in most cases is that special education methods are applied. Indeed, these are always necessary. However, for a number of the children, this help is far from sufficient. They need some form of psychological help to live a better life.
