ABSTRACT

The creation can be defined as the universe being brought into existence out of nothing by God, or as God revealing God's self in nature or as nature, or, simply, as God becoming. The myths about the beginnings of creation often begin with a state called chaos, which is either a dark void or an endless sea. Out of this, something may coagulate, or a primal creator, or pair of primal beings, may emerge. Differentiation is a result of separation, which is both a cause of, and a product of, consciousness. "The creation of consciousness requires that new contents be carved out of the unconscious". The creation of a symbolic space, is the prerequisite for that "Word", for language and for thinking. When the one is separated out from the all, two exist but in a sort of union, when that union is prised apart there is space for the third, consciousness outside of the unconscious.
