ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the unanswered question into a series of others which flow from it, each one followed by some reflections. It has a format like a conference in which questions are posed and replies are given. The arduous work of integration is required to consolidate and actualise the gains offered by the emergence of healing intelligence, which requires the cooperation and availability of consciousness and positive parts of character structure in order to be effective. The task of healing and spiritual growth is to facilitate this inner dynamic rather than simply address the problems of the outer world, important though they are. Healing intelligence lies naturally in the psyche, it is not a magical process caused from without, either by therapist or other agency, though, of course, it may be stimulated by them. Healing and growth in the psyche do not require the acceptance of any particular model of the psyche.
