ABSTRACT

Stress is one the major problems facing all people today. In the UK, it is estimated that at least forty million working days are lost each year because of stress. The causes of stress are numerous and include: major life changes and life events; noise; crowds; poor sleep, bad diet, unhealthy lifestyle; alcohol or drug misuse; aggravation and abuse; unemployment; sexual problems; identity problems; and so on. The physical symptoms of stress are very varied. One may experience: feeling tired all the time; worsening sleep patterns; low sex drive; anger; breathless feelings; and so on. The emotional symptoms of stress are also varied. One may experience: feelings of anger or irritation; depression; low motivation; and so on. Stress has been ascribed as a major factor in cardiovascular disorders; diabetes; asthma and other respiratory disorders. The very best thing that one can possibly do to combat their stress is almost certainly to do some aerobic exercise on a regular basis.
