ABSTRACT

The most widespread "disorder" is premature old age. The most recent and seemingly correct theory of ageing is based on damage done by "free radicals". Free radicals are highly unstable chemical "buzz-bombs" that steal electrons from people's body's delicate membranes and genetic (DNA) structure in order to balance themselves, causing their genetic code to change slightly and thus their body's ability to repair itself. The ability to walk freely and easily is mostly taken for granted— until it is threatened or lost. One of the more unfortunate aspects of ageing is such a loss: mobility problems are the most frequent disability, affecting over four million people, 75% of whom are over seventy-five years old. Just because people are getting older does not mean that they have to accept memory loss as inevitable. Many research studies show that proper nutrition and active stimulation are very important factors in maintaining a sharp and active memory throughout their life.
