ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author presents a case study of, the adolescent girl, Deniz. Deniz was brought for psychotherapy by her family at the age of sixteen because of her homosexuality. The questions Deniz raised during the therapeutic process were related to her being and the meaning of her existence. In Deniz's case, her father complained that she distanced herself both physically and emotionally from her family and home, not placing too much importance on his daughter's homosexuality, whereas her mother said that her relationships with girls were unacceptable. In her first interview, Deniz looked very willing to communicate with the author even though she had come upon the request of her parents. Deniz wanted to love and be loved like a baby, particularly in her close relationship with her girlfriend. The author usually found herself in a position of waiting: "a woman waiting for a woman" or "a woman looking for a woman".
