ABSTRACT

Various factors are invoked to explain the deceptions of analytic work that has proved insufficient—among the early nature of traumatic experiences. It is true that very early traumas can play a determining role. The appreciation of these traumas is often partial; for example, attention is attracted by the departure or loss of one of the parents, especially if he/she has not been replaced. A cause of indelible psychic wounds may be attributed to parental structures whose pathology and harmful effects have left wounds that never heal. This is often the case for families where the children share the pathological traits of their parents, actively repeating the traumas that they have suffered. As Sigmund Freud had already remarked, experience teaches us that some individuals manage to avoid being overwhelmed by physical and mental misfortunes who have been relatively less affected by them, seem to be constantly scratching their wounds.
