ABSTRACT

There are certain crude divisions into which it is possible to divide the human race: those who love opera and those who don’t, those who love reading and those who don’t, those who love dogs and those who don’t. I am one of those who loves dogs. I never pass a dog on the street without giving it a loving and nostalgic glance. I was brought up with dogs and when I don’t have one there is an ache at the centre of my being.
