ABSTRACT

Positive emotions, and better stress management, create harmony and coherence in the heart's rhythms and improve balance in the nervous system. More importantly, high Heart Rate Variability coherence has also been found to lead to increased synchronization between the heartbeat and alpha rhythms, as measured by the electroencephalogram. HeartMath research has shown that during mental or emotional stress there is an increase in sympathetic activity which releases the hormone cortisol into the body and increases fibrillation. Elliot Jaques and K. Cason's research found that there are only four mental patterns or types of mental processes that individuals use: Declarative processing; Cumulative processing; Serial processing and parallel processing. The more relaxed an individual is, the more effectively they learn which in turn increases their ability to manage managerial complexity. From both individual and team coaching studies, indications are that people experience the some Components very positively and that they help to facilitate an experiential learning process.
