ABSTRACT

An Integrative Gestalt Practice (IGP) practitioner has a holistic outlook and may, in principle, intervene in relation to any aspect and on any level of the field. This may involve interventions on an individual, group, or organisational level in the form of therapy, supervision, coaching, and organisational development. The IGP practitioner will seek to support the person's autonomy by helping the person discover, from his or her own perspective, body sensations, and their meaning rather than using body therapy interventions to trigger change. The IGP practitioner's interventions are aimed at influencing procedural/structural patterns in one or more quadrant perspectives with a view to bringing about enduring changes. In therapy, the practitioner has licence, so to speak, to intervene on an intrapsychic or psychodynamic level, which is not quite the case in supervision and coaching.
