ABSTRACT

The naturalness with which professionals from the world of psychotherapy seek supervision is lacking in many other professionals who work daily with people's growth and change. The supervision matrix is where the contact between the supervisor and the supervisee is located. The supervisee discusses facts from the therapeutic matrix, matters that relate to the client and the therapy. To the surprise of many beginning supervisees, the process that takes place in supervision often resembles that which takes place between the supervisee and the client. The comparative script system provides a framework for organising the large amount of facts and the diverse and extensive data that emerge in the supervisory process. Trudi Newton and R. Napper integrated a number of methodological models for supervision in a dynamic schema. Supervisors in transactional analysis are required to undergo several years of formal training, supervision, and ultimately examinations to develop competencies as a supervisor.
