ABSTRACT
In the passage of an analysis, where truth speaks in the transference, the fall of that object of love holds the possibility of an encounter with the Other, not as Being but as the locus of this value, the value of truth for the subject. The woman judge would, Tad feared, act to subject him to the law of that one signifier, the phallus. It is this law which names men in their difference from those others who are called women. Under this law to be, in name, a man is to be excluded from the being of the woman. As Lacan puts it, unlike the phantasy of neurosis the phantasy of perversion can be named, it is in space, it suspends some essential relationship or other.
