ABSTRACT
This book reflects Jacqueline Amati Mehler’s interest in language and symbolization. In my contribution to it, I shall describe a particular clinical phenomenon wherein, at least at the outset, effective symbolization is not possible. Words, though available, are psychically useless. In the specific region of vulnerability, ‘actions speak louder than words’.
