ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors focus on material from two sources, and they discuss the transitional context and the tensions associated with it. The first source was the interviews "one year on" of the leaders who participated in our research. It was striking to observe how helpful the leaders found it to review their experience in the light of the tensions and how ready they were to endorse the accuracy of the tensions themselves. The second source was the interviews of a diverse group of experienced leaders who had not been part of the research. In doing these interviews the authors wished to check ourselves against taking too narrow or inward-looking an approach. Leaders have to take good care of the image and let people see clearly who they really are. It is essential that a leader has a clear vision and precise objectives.
