ABSTRACT

Plenary reviews are intended to provide an opportunity for the realization and recognition of the feelings and attitudes. The task of the plenary reviews is to try to help members to end the conference but not to stop learning. In the first session, the director gives a formal welcome to the members, introduces the staff, gives the conference secretary the opportunity to make any administrative announcements, and then makes a brief statement about what is to happen. Lectures, as has been said, are primarily to give the theoretical framework on which the overall design and events of the conference are based. Lecturers are members of the staff, who, in other events, take other roles. The choice of lecturers, and hence of subjects, is thus limited and there are variations in the lecture series from conference to conference. Conference membership is the only characteristic that is common to all members and the only thing that unites them.
