ABSTRACT
In psychoanalysis a person’s first relationships and how they are experienced are seen as the bedrock of future psychic and sexual life. This is a complex interaction between the child and the parental couple, starting with mother. Mother acts as a container for her child’s fears, anxieties and desires. Her capacity to bear these powerful impulses relates to her own internal objects and external relationships.
