ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the trial therapy of the Good Girl with Ulcerative Colitis blind to the patient's difficulties and begin by asking about the problems that lead her to seek treatment. The therapy for The Good Girl with Ulcerative Colitis consisted of 68 sessions. Patients with severe functional disorders such as ulcerative colitis must be treated with special care. Follow-up for The Good Girl with Ulcerative Colitis took place 2, 8, and 10 years after termination. The treating physician dismissed her concerns about emotional triggers and told her she was "over-psychologising" her illness. Despite this, she initiated therapy on her own. Her ability to work in the transference and make meaningful connections between the therapist and significant others in her life boded well for this kind of therapy. She left the trial therapy feeling that a good deal had been accomplished.
