ABSTRACT

Porn pictures and short movies, just like a subterranean river, flowed through the course of the twentieth century in the shadow of the depths, until they started streaming more openly, in the outdoors, together with the manifold social changes of the 1960s. The development of and the interactions between all the phenomena would constitute too complex a topic, while easy causalisms between porn and these societal changes would be at best naive and simplifying. Nevertheless, through the swinging sixties, porn certainly mingled with the subversion of bourgeois morality and values, and with the sexual revolution, until it obtained legal right to be produced and distributed, in the end of the decade. Professional porn performers, with their estabilished rules, rights, and unions even, had to adapt quickly to the new codexes of porn scenes, shot with non-professional or semi-professional actors and actresses.
