ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the range of emotions and feelings that we might have about the facets of sexuality that have been introduced so far. It draws these elements together, to consider how they interact and to further develop an integrative model for sexuality. The chapter discusses options and choices for a healthy sexual diet and sexual self-esteem. It revisits some of these issues having learnt in more detail about how our bodies and our brain work with regard to sexuality. Information about sex and sexuality has definitely increased in the past decade and our attitudes have, no doubt, changed also. It would be useful to evaluate the impact of this liberalisation on our sexual self-esteem. The adult world of sexuality must seem so confusing to our children; there are so many mixed messages, with sex being used to sell many things, but, at the same time, much embarrassment can be generated in adults when we talk about sexual matters.
