ABSTRACT

MozAiek is an open admission department for people with personality disorders. It is part of the St. Amedeus psychiatric centre in Mortsel, Belgium. The degree to which the various modules work with mentalization depends on the possibilities of the clients. In the early stages of therapy it is important that clients become aware of perceptions and start to move in them. The invitation to experiment includes learning to play with reality. The psychic equivalent mode is something that gets very much in Karen's way. The emphasis is on the client's own perceptions while working and on attuning to the artist. In various areas of her life it is difficult for Karen to keep herself out of the psychic equivalent mode. It falls to pieces and Karen says it drives her mad to look inside her own head.
