ABSTRACT

As stress is likely to make anger worse, or even be the cause of an angry outburst, it is important to learn how to deal with stress. Relaxation can play an important part in dealing with stress and in managing anger. 'Anchoring' is a simple technique whereby people associate positive, calming, confident feelings to a particular object, usually, but not always, something people wear frequently. Meditation describes a state of concentrated attention on some object, or thought, or awareness. Biofeedback involves measuring bodily responses such as blood pressure, heart rate, and skin temperature/moisture. Anger can be made worse by taking stimulants such as tea, coffee, colas, and chocolate, all of which contain caffeine. Sleep is essential for survival, health, and fitness, and research suggests that it is the quality of sleep that is most important. It is important for a person to get adequate sleep in order to foster psychological and physiological well-being.
