ABSTRACT

Many people who suffer from anxiety are often passive. Anxious people often avoid conflict and then feel put upon or not valued. Giving criticism can be as hard for some people as receiving it, especially for people who suffer from anxiety. A more effective tactic might be to use an imagery technique to prepare people for the event as a way to help decrease their anxiety and practise the type of coping strategies that might be helpful. When anxiety levels have fallen to four or five, using their rating, it might be the time to consider taking a real journey on public transport. Anti-depressants are NOT addictive and can help to relieve anxiety as well as the depression for which they are usually prescribed. Some even seem to have a particular effect on individual types of anxiety. Being able to deal with problems can help people manage their anxiety.
