ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the course and each of its components and the rationale for designing the course on the basis of systemic concepts. It discusses some of the training and supervision dilemmas and examines the impact of various stages of the training based on feedback from trainees. The chapter explains the way supervision can be conceptualized as a multi-layered system. It explores a framework for training which reflects the different levels of experience and different aspects of relationships involved in the supervisory process. Live supervision of live supervision takes place in a supervision group of three to four trainee supervisors plus one of the three staff members, who acts as the supervisor of the supervision. The staff member who is the live supervisor of the live supervision facilitates the trainee supervisor's practice and enables reflection and feedback on these multi-layered experiences.
