ABSTRACT

Parents who have been overwhelmed by the premature birth then have to cope with babies who have suffered every day of their lives during the months since they were born, and this makes communication very difficult. As early as 2008, in a study by Samara, carried out under the aegis of the Epicure project on the outcome of former premature babies, the question of the relationship between parents and babies was explored. Many studies have explored the role of the neonatal team, from the point of view of the babies, and from the point of view of the parents, with the aim of reducing the impact of the traumatic experience. In France, the Centre d’action medico-sociale precoce, which is responsible for prevention and follow-up in cases of extreme prematurity, has recognised that in premature babies without neurological sequelae and without pervasive developmental disorders there is an increase of some symptoms.
