ABSTRACT

It has been over 100 years since the publication of The Interpretation of Dreams by Sigmund Freud. The argument about psychoanalysis never stopped in western educational circles in the last century, but even among Freud's strongest opponents, no one can ignore the revolution he brought about in exploring the depths of the psychic world. Psychoanalysis in China, edited by David Scharff and Sverre Varvin, is a collection of thirty papers by thirty-five experts in psychoanalysis from China and abroad, among whom the point at issue is the discussion of the development of psychoanalysis in China in recent years. Chinese culture's openness to and acceptance of, western culture is actually rooted in Chinese culture. Psychoanalysis first emerged in the western world, but its influence has reached far beyond the west. Some modern Chinese intellectuals in the early twentieth century briefly explored psychoanalysis.
