ABSTRACT

The following case studies have been selected for their illustration of a variety of clinical presentations and how these might be addressed using energy psychology methods. Some are lengthy and detailed accounts, whilst others are brief vignettes. The first three are contributed by other practitioners and clients. Sexual addictions and obsessions are both common and distressing, although not always easily acknowledged by clients. These may have complex roots in sexualised representations of repeated childhood traumas, in the use of sexual stimulation to relieve anxiety and depression, and in the use of sexuality to express a variety of essentially non-sexual needs and desires. This case in interesting, in that it illustrates the targeting of various traumatic experiences that lay behind the problem, but also describes the layers of issues that begin to unfold as the areas of distress are cleared. Some temporary negative reactions to improvement are shown, as deeper patterns and attachments are inevitably challenged by the forward movement.
