ABSTRACT

A human being must be there somewhere and Psycho analysts do not believe in the Romulus and Remus myth because a wolf simply has not got the mental equipment to identify with a human baby. The baby exists precariously in dependence on the human mother-figure. The baby boy or girl who develops in an environment that the kind of mother can provide is able to live for an adequate period in a subjective world in which the world of external reality does not impinge. It may become a hidden talent, with the individual boy or girl hidden in a false set-up, a false personality based on compliance and being good. When each boy or girl is living his or her own life, though imaginatively involved with other persons, with the other sex, and with society, then the analysts can see that growth simply means life and living, and there is no end to life, except death.
