ABSTRACT
A woman patient has a voice which is characteristic. When she works hard, at analysis for instance, she does a tremendous amount of work with her mouth and with her whole vocal apparatus. She talks loudly, and she has gradually become conscious of the fact that she enjoys the functioning of her speech department almost to a painful degree. In the course of the analysis fantasy of all kinds has emerged accompanied by feeling of very great intensity. She was eating, eating like a wild animal, and reading the newspaper. The anxiety and rage roused by this action of mine were very great. Analysis along these lines produced material which made clear her thumb-sucking experiences orgastic pleasure, defiance, guilt feelings, inhibition and her hand masturbation which had been long inhibited and the idea repudiated.
