ABSTRACT

The author shows evidence of shadow dynamics from the training field, as the actual experience of senior trainers. To maintain anonymity and respect the confidentiality of the owners of the statements and of specific training institutes and organizations, she has chosen to use only the material by which the trainers themselves and their training environments cannot be identified. In an attempt to present this complex material with as much clarity as is possible, she has chosen to use the presentation of shadow, the influence of past on present—the personality people bring with them into the training environment, current field dynamics, and containment. A trainer considers transferential process linked to the leadership style of the narcissist, where he sees hero worship and adulation inviting idealization of the trainer by trainees. One trainer sees integrative psychotherapy as invariably underpinned by the philosophical paradigm of mother and baby.
