ABSTRACT

When I enrolled I was expecting two of my friends because we had planned to join the programme together, but they had withdrawn without telling me. So, when I joined the Personal Development (PD) group my attitude was negative because I displaced my disappointment and irritation with my friends onto those joining the programme. My friends would have been more or less my age, unlike those enrolling. I felt as if I had walked into a kindergarten as most of the students were young enough to be my children. Of course my attitude was also influenced by my stereotypical assumptions about young people, such as that they cannot be serious about their studies.
