ABSTRACT

This was the last paper Foulkes wrote. While preparing his book on the theory of group analysis, he began to elaborate some of the concepts he had formulated over the years, though sometimes only sketchily described in his published works. He looked for clinical examples to illustrate each concept. Resonance, first described in Foulkes and Anthony (1957), was one of these, and he found some suitable clinical material from one of his relatively early groups.
