ABSTRACT

The artist produces a work to grab the public gaze. Life is hellish, horrible, ever monstrous and through art, as a consequence, quite beautiful. Thus both art and analysis originate as human endeavours from the consequence of language imposing itself on man and the possibility linked with the limits of knowledge. The artist makes visible the truth in its universal form. Art generates a general interest even when manifested as rejection or aversion. Before the philosophers, before the historians, before the art schools, before the university. To paint the pictures, by the light of flickering animal fat lamps, required a somewhat hazardous underground journey, leaving the natural comfort of the sunlight and for many hours toiling in an unlit darkness. There are no human figures but almost exclusively figures of animals. Animals: objects slated by desire. Sources of food, clothing, light.
