ABSTRACT

Dopamine is a substance involved in the control and adjustment of movements, in the expression of affective states and feelings of pleasure. Recent publications refer to the beneficial effect of movement and its incidence in body systems as well as in diverse psychic functions. The body's incessant stretching movements activate the muscles and joints, maintaining the muscular tone. Babies, from the moment they are born, express different emotions and needs through body movement. Babies use all their senses to discover the world around them, but the development of their motor capacities is what permits them to explore and manipulate their environment. In a state of dynamic interchange with its environment, the Nervous System and the body are rich and complicated systems. The therapeutic effect that repetitive movement can have is significant for persons with physical disabilities, the elderly, or persons with severe disturbances in their body schema.
